Indian playback singer Jonita Gandhi and Music Producer and DJ – Lost Stories team up again for the biggest and most solemnized wedding anthem of the season- “Mehndi Te Vavi. This electro-pop rendition of the folk song is all set to unroll craze among the masses.

The DJ duo composed of Prayag Mehta and Rishab Joshi tells that both their mothers Jyoti Mehta and Pankti Joshi (respectively), share a favorite Gujrati folk song – “Mehndi Te Vavi.” As a homage to their mothers, the duo called upon Jonita Gandhi for the much-awaited collab.

Released by the label Velvet Vibes, the music video features Telugu actor Simran Choudhary and Instagram/YouTube influencer Mr.MNV. Reinforcing the Indian folk culture in their own flair, without making it sound redundant and monotonous, Lost Stories delivers yet another single with the potential to go viral.

Elucidating the song, the duo comments that being born and brought up in a Gujrati family and exposed to rich music culture, this song has been the soul of all weddings. It’s the unique folk tune and the “Garba” beat, that makes this song stand out. Mehta further adds, “The song is about 60 years old and every traditional Gujarati homemaker has loved this track for over six decades. It also happens to be one of the earliest Gujarati songs Jonita grew up singing. It was a no-brainer decision for us.” To which, Jonita further stated that the process of making the piece was “really fun and such a breeze.”

“Mehndi Te Vavi” provides exposure to both acoustic guitars combined with a traditional folk tune, with a euphoric sound drop. It took eight long months to add the final touch-up to the song. Mehta adds, ” It breaks into a cinematic drop with lo-fi drums and our signature flute while building up to a sudden vintage, Sixties transistor radio style break and then going back to the drop in its full glory!” Also, a major shoutout to the sound engineer Vinay Hariharan for executing the fusion smooth!

Following the trail of “Mehndi Te Vavi”, Mehta announces that two other tracks from the EP are yet to release and they are “really excited and looking forward to releasing the other two tracks from the EP soon.”

Driven by nostalgia, going back to the roots of the song and reinvigorating it in their signature flair, is like a reincarnation of the song! Weddings are incomplete without traditional folks. And when folk music meets electronic upbeat, the ultimatum is magic! Fans are agoged to vibe with this magical experience!
